As we embark on our 10th year, The Dharavi Dream Project (TDDP) proudly launched Dharavi’s very first state-of-the-art recording facility on Founder’s Day, July 15, 2023, as a tribute to the late Founder, Samir Bangara.

TDDP has always been at the forefront of providing a platform for aspiring hip-hop artists within the vibrant community of Dharavi. We’ve consistently strived to nurture their talents, encourage creativity, and promote inclusivity within the music industry. Our recent partnership with Roland, a pioneering company renowned for its exceptional music gear and commitment to artistic expression, aligns perfectly with our mission to create a lasting impact on the lives of these budding artists.

The construction of our state-of-the-art recording facility was made possible with the support of PepsiCo’s funding. In 2018, PepsiCo India announced the establishment of this recording studio in Dharavi for the students of ‘The Dharavi Project,’ a unique after-school program focused on Hip-Hop. The recording studio’s creation was a groundbreaking moment that celebrated and empowered under-resourced hip-hop talent, making it a benchmark within India’s homegrown hip-hop community.

The TDDP Studios’ inauguration was a moment of hope, graced by Samir Bangara’s family, Devraj Sanyal, Badshah, Ranjit Barot, Nirmika Singh, and Tarsame Mittal. This association addresses the need to expand opportunities for under-resourced talent and showcase their craft on a more prominent platform with the right infrastructure in place. It serves as a platform to mobilize talent, allowing them to take their craft to the next level and share their music with the world. This initiative benefits the entire ecosystem, economically uplifting the talent in the ghettos of Dharavi.

The studio will serve as an enabler for our students, enabling them to create more music than ever before. This, in turn, will help firmly propagate the hip-hop culture of our incredibly diverse and musical country through digital and live events. The impact of this initiative is set to be profound and transformative, nurturing the talents of Dharavi and creating a lasting legacy for years to come.
